Sebastian Weise (*1983 in Dresden) studied visual arts and film in Berlin and Vienna.
In his works, which always refer to space, he uses film, video art and performance as contrasting foils. The relationship between supposedly objective history and subjectively experienced stories is negotiated, as is the relationship between public and private space. In doing so, he uses forms of experimental video essay to narrate in a fragmentary, erratic, and tongue-in-cheek manner.

His works have been exhibited continuously since 2018 in art institutions, project spaces and at festivals such as the Hamburg Short Film Festival (2023), the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival (2022 and 2023), the Ruhr Film Festival (2024), the Ruthin International Arts Festival (2024), the Marburger Kunstverein (2021), the Kunstbibliothek der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin (2021), Galerie Parterre (2021), the European Media Art Festival (2018 and 2019) and the Volkstheater Rostock (2023).

Sebastian Weise received the Mart Stam Prize (2020) as well as the Deutschlandstipendium (2017), the Neustart-Kultur grant of the Stiftung Kunstfond (2022) and the Elsa-Neumann scholarship (2023).

He also worked for "deutsche wohnen (was singen die diven)" together with Ulf Aminde (Kunst im Stadtraum am Hansaplatz, 2019) and was an artistic associate in the project "Various Answers: language, knowledge, narration" at the Brücke Museum Berlin in 2021 and 2022.
